Hotel internet

The quality of the computers I have access to seems to be increasing, but at the same time the physical access decreases. I now have access to a stable system, but I can't access my flash disk to upload any photos. I'll do all that when I return to Sydney.

And in other news: I miss my guitar, my laptop, and roleplaying.

Still hated

Still can't upload the picture... And I just got a new trench coat tailored for 60 USD. Fun stuff.

The pricing of food in vietnam is amazing. We fed a large family, with second helpings and multiple drinks, for 5.2 AUD.

Wolves

Got my wolves. Had thirty minutes to look for it, and ended up finding them again in the last two minutes.

The computer I'm using just decided to hate all of my flash disks, meaning no pictures for now.

Mandolin

Got my mandolin. Fifty dollars for a POS, but it plays well enough, minus a few issues with the tremolo that can be solved with a file and some patience. I still do not have the wolves, though. Went back to the market and everyone was closing shop for the day. I'll have to try again tomorrow.

Finally: Tuning mandolins is a bitch. The only thing worse than that (so far) is tuning a twelve string guitar.

In Vietnam Nao

So, I'm in Vietnam now. Another two and a half weeks to go, still.

Got a little pissed off when my brother told me (at a market) he had seen a bracelet I wanted at another store, cheaper. Guess what? They did not even have it. That brings the grand total up to four bracelets and two necklaces that I wanted, but did not buy on his advice. I'm too trusting.

Also, I'm picking up a mandolin tomorrow, hopefully, and if I can find the stall with that bracelet, I'll have two new pet wolves ^.^


And a random thought, and I mean really random, occured to me today while on a boat. If something were to take off my left arm, my first thought would be worry about whether I could get the leather armband back that I'm so fond of. Not the arm, the bracelet. I'm odd like that.

Hand-me-down technology

Got an iPAQ today. Hand-me-down, but good quality regardless. It took me less than a day to realise this:

I hate the Microsoft operating system for Pocket PCs... And I have to stick with it for a few weeks. At least until my mother settles into using her new iPhone. Then it's time to put ubuntu mobile onto the organiser and have some fun.

Till then I guess I'll have to weather it.


And on a random note, I had a very confusing conversation where I was talking about leather collars, and a friend thought I was talking about shirt collars. Took us a few minutes to figure out why neither of us was on the same page.

The last exam

Stuck in the school library. Finished with an hour to go on some crappy Board of Studies test, and I'm not allowed to leave early, regardless of the fact that this is my last exam.

I'm now up to date with most of my webcomics, my blog, and most forums I'm registered at. And I don't have my own laptop, so I do not have access to my composition software.

So... damn... boring!

Exams sapped my creativity.

Only two more days of exams... Then I'll have time to myself and the song I'm composing.

I may not be as dedicated to writing, drawing, or programming as I should be (and I really should write more), but I'm finally finding time to play and compose music. I'll upload things once I get demos done.

Compromises and failures

Apparently my school is weird. A few students in my class suggested having a party during our last computing period of the year, but our teacher wanted to go through a few more assessed presentations.

The result? We get to snack on whatever people are bringing while delivering speeches. Yay!


My last post was about an assessed performance for my music course at school. After playing the piece for the markers on my semi-acoustic guitar, I realised that it might have sounded better on my electric. I tried it, and it did. I just hope I get an okay mark regardless.

Edit: I got more than I expected. Apparently nobody noticed the fact that I was trembling throughout the performance.
